Support Structure
Support Structure combines graphic art and architectural elements to create a social structure. SMET is interested in how architectural interventions in existing buildings and spatial design can make private and public spaces accessible to a group or community that previously had no access to these places.
The design of buildings and the layout of public space reflect a value system and are always ideologically charged. A building can serve to increase individual comfort. A spatial layout can serve to accelerate economic traffic. In SMET's practice, they ask the question: how can a building or a spatial intervention propose a different value system, one based on solidarity and community?
