IN THE DARK WE LIVE

My first rave was somewhere in 1986, an art school party at a squat De Fabriek in Utrecht if I am not mistaken. The first proper acid party was in 1988 when London came to Amsterdam in the Sleep Inn. It was shocking, people were getting naked, porn vids projected on the wall, a smokey garden to complement the surreal experience, but it made me curious as well. My aunt introduced us further to the RoXY and infamous Amsterdam club.

It was the start of my raving career that would last decades, hunting the beat for illegal warehouse parties, squats, boats, festivals and illustrious clubs like iT, Waakzaamheid and Parkzicht to name a few. With this publication I am re-constructing my early days through memento like flyers and photographs I took of my friends with a disposable camera (mid to end of the 90's).
