Ghost Image
What does the field of vision conceal? What is it that hides in (plain) sight?
Averting the eyes, a shadowy image appears lingering in its corners, turning a blind eye, a faint image is projected on the back of the eyelids, as glimmers, shimmers, suggestions. Like an inhabitant of the unseen world, an uncanny zone where time collapses and our past memories and associations come back to haunt us, a ghost image, tugging at the back of the mind. “A ghost never dies, it remains, always to come and to come-back”, Derrida warns, and without escape “the past that is not past reappears, always, to rupture the present” as Christina Sharpe succinctly remarks. History is repeating itself right now, the future, a deja vu of identical images on repeat. A ghost image is haunting the world again.
