See, people with power understand exactly one thing: violence
Noam Chomsky
A Power Violence Clip Art Library
From the early 90’s Matt Plezier collected pictures from magazines and newspapers for his clip art library to use for record covers, flyers, zines and posters. He went to the copyshop to distort and alter them with the copy machine. The ritual of collecting and distorting images is a direct link to his ‘Daily Dose’ series; examining the image and meaning of the presented image and the way we perceive it. For this publication he created different collages using various techniques from digital, to cut and paste using his photography and the collected clip art library as source and the scanner and copymachine as his tools. Inspired by the power violence esthetics, an extreme form of hardcore that has influenced his musical taste, creative sensibilities and his love for skulls. This publication can be seen as an ode to this musical format.
